What Quran Says About Isaac?

(Ishaq)

We have sent thee inspiration, as We sent it to Noah and the Messengers after him: we sent inspiration to Abraham, Isma'il, Isaac, Jacob and the Tribes, to Jesus, Job, Jonah, Aaron, and solomon, and to David We gave the Psalms. [4:163]

And commemorate Our Servants Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, possessors of Power and Vision. [38:45] Verily We did choose them for a special (purpose) - proclaiming the Message of the Hereafter. [38:46] They were, in Our sight, truly, of the company of the Elect and the Good. [38:47]

(In the days of old), Noah cried to Us, and We are the best to hear prayer.[37:75] And We delivered him and his people from the Great Calamity, [37:76] And made his progeny to endure (on this earth); [37:77] And We left (this blessing) for him among generations to come in later times: [37:78] "Peace and salutation to Noah among the nations!" [37:79] Thus indeed do we reward those who do right. [37:80] For he was one of our believing Servants.

[37:81] Then the rest we overwhelmed in the Flood. [37:82] Verily among those who followed his Way was Abraham. [37:83] Behold! he approached his Lord with a sound heart. [37:84] Behold! he said to his father and to his people, "What is that which ye worship? [37:85] “Is it a falsehood- gods other than God- that ye desire? [37:86] “Then what is your idea about the Lord of the worlds?" [37:87] Then did he cast a glance at the Stars.

[37:88] And he said, "I am indeed sick (at heart)!" [37:89] So they turned away from him, and departed. [37:90] Then did he turn to their gods and said, "will ye not eat (of the offerings before you)?... [37:91] “What is the matter with you that ye speak not (intelligently)?" [37:92] Then did he turn upon them, striking (them) with the right hand. [37:93] Then came (the worshippers) with hurried steps, and faced (him). [37:94] He said: "Worship ye that which ye have (yourselves) carved? [37:95] “But God has created you and your handwork!" [37:96] They said, "Build him a furnace, and throw him into the blazing fire!" [37:97] (This failing), they then sought a stratagem against him, but We made them the ones most humiliated! [37:98] He said: "I will go to my Lord! He will surely guide me! [37:99] “O my Lord! Grant me a righteous (son)!" [37:100] So We gave him the good news of a boy ready to suffer and forbear. [37:101] Then, when (the son) reached (the age of) (serious) work with him, he said: "O my son! I see in vision that I offer thee in sacrifice: Now see what is thy view!" (The son) said: "O my father! Do as thou art commanded: thou will find me, if God so wills one practising Patience and Constancy!" [37:102] So when they had both submitted their wills (to God), and he had laid him prostrate on his forehead (for sacrifice), [37:103] We called out to him "O Abraham! [37:104] “Thou hast already fulfilled the vision!" - thus indeed do We reward those who do right. [37:105] For this was obviously a trial- [37:106] And We ransomed him with a momentous sacrifice: [37:107] And We left (this blessing) for him among generations (to come) in later times: [37:108] “Peace and salutation to Abraham!" [37:109] Thus indeed do We reward those who do right. [37:110] For he was one of our believing Servants. [37:111] And We gave him the good news of Isaac - a prophet,- one of the Righteous. [37:112]

We blessed him and Isaac: but of their progeny are (some) that do right, and (some) that obviously do wrong, to their own souls. [37:113]

We gave him Isaac and Jacob: all (three) guided: and before him, We guided Noah, and among his progeny, David, Solomon, Job, Joseph, Moses, and Aaron: thus do We reward those who do good: [6:84]

Remember Abraham said: "O my Lord! make this city one of peace and security: and preserve me and my sons from worshipping idols. [14:35] “O my Lord! they have indeed led astray many among mankind; He then who follows my (ways) is of me, and he that disobeys me,- but Thou art indeed Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. [14:36] “O our Lord! I have made some of my offspring to dwell in a valley without cultivation, by Thy Sacred House; in order, O our Lord, that they may establish regular Prayer: so fill the hearts of some among men with love towards them, and feed them with fruits: so that they may give thanks. [14:37] “O our Lord! truly Thou dost know what we conceal and what we reveal: for nothing whatever is hidden from God, whether on earth or in heaven. [14:38] "Praise be to Allah, Who hath granted unto me in old age Isma'il and Isaac: for truly my Lord is He, the Hearer of Prayer! [14:39]

And We gave (Abraham) Isaac and Jacob, and ordained among his progeny Prophethood and Revelation, and We granted him his reward in this life; and he was in the Hereafter (of the company) of the Righteous. [29:27]

(Also mention in the Book (the story of) Abraham: He was a man of Truth, a prophet. [19:41] Behold, he said to his father: "O my father! why worship that which heareth not and seeth not, and can profit thee nothing? [19:42] "O my father! to me hath come knowledge which hath not reached thee: so follow me: I will guide thee to a way that is even and straight. [19:43] “O my father! serve not Satan: for Satan is a rebel against (God) Most Gracious. [19:44] “O my father! I fear lest a Penalty afflict thee from (God) Most Gracious, so that thou become to Satan a friend." [19:45] (The father) replied: "Dost thou hate my gods, O Abraham? If thou forbear not, I will indeed stone thee: Now get away from me for a good long while!" [19:46] Abraham said: "Peace be on thee: I will pray to my Lord for thy forgiveness: for He is to me Most Gracious. [19:47] "And I will turn away from you (all) and from those whom ye invoke besides God: I will call on my Lord: perhaps, by my prayer to my Lord, I shall be not unblest." [19:48] When he had turned away from them and from those whom they worshipped besides Allah, We bestowed on him Isaac and Jacob, and each one of them We made a prophet. [19:49]

And We bestowed on him Isaac and, as an additional gift, (a grandson), Jacob, and We made righteous men of every one (of them). [21:72]

There came Our messengers to Abraham with glad tidings. They said, "Peace!" He answered, "Peace!" and hastened to entertain them with a roasted calf. [11:69] But when he saw their hands went not towards the (meal), he felt some mistrust of them, and conceived a fear of them. They said: "Fear not: We have been sent against the people of Lut." [11:70] And his wife was standing (there), and she laughed: But we gave her glad tidings of Isaac, and after him, of Jacob. [11:71]

Behold! Joseph said to his father: "O my father! I did see eleven stars and the sun and the moon: I saw them prostrate themselves to me!" [12:4] Said (the father): "My (dear) little son! relate not thy vision to thy brothers, lest they concoct a plot against thee: for Satan is to man an avowed enemy! [12:5] "Thus will thy Lord choose thee and teach thee the interpretation of stories (and events) and perfect His favour to thee and to the posterity of Jacob - even as He perfected it to thy fathers Abraham and Isaac aforetime! for Allah is full of knowledge and wisdom." [12:6]

Were ye witnesses when death appeared before Jacob? Behold, he said to his sons: "What will ye worship after me?" They said: "We shall worship Thy Allah and the Allah of thy fathers, of Abraham, Isma'il and Isaac,- the one (True) Allah. To Him we bow (in Islam)." [2:133]

Say ye: "We believe in Allah, and the revelation given to us, and to Abraham, Isma'il, Isaac, Jacob, and the Tribes, and that given to Moses and Jesus, and that given to (all) prophets from their Lord: We make no difference between one and another of them: And we bow to Allah (in Islam)." [2:136]

Or do ye say that Abraham, Isma'il Isaac, Jacob and the Tribes were Jews or Christians? Say: Do ye know better than Allah. Ah! who is more unjust than those who conceal the testimony they have from Allah. but Allah is not unmindful of what ye do! [2:140]

Say: "We believe in Allah, and in what has been revealed to us and what was revealed to Abraham, Isma'il, Isaac, Jacob, and the Tribes, and in (the Books) given to Moses, Jesus, and the prophets, from their Lord: We make no distinction between one and another among them, and to Allah do we bow our will (in Islam)." [3:84]

"And I follow the ways of my fathers,- Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob; and never could we attribute any partners whatever to Allah. that (comes) of the grace of Allah to us and to mankind: yet most men are not grateful. [12:38]
