What Quran Says About Trial?

(Balaon)

We did, before them, try the people of Pharaoh: there came to them an apostle most honourable, [44:17] Saying: "Restore to me the Servants of God: I am to you an apostle worthy of all trust; [44:18] "And be not arrogant as against God: for I come to you with authority manifest. [44:19] "For me, I have sought safety with my Lord and your Lord, against your injuring me. [44:20] "If ye believe me not, at least keep yourselves away from me." [44:21] (But they were aggressive:) then he cried to his Lord: "These are indeed a people given to sin." [44:22] (The reply came:) "March forth with My Servants by night: for ye are sure to be pursued. [44:23] "And leave the sea as a furrow (divided): for they are a host (destined) to be drowned." [44:24] How many were the gardens and springs they left behind, [44:25] And corn-fields and noble buildings, [44:26] And wealth (and conveniences of life), wherein they had taken such delight! [44:27] Thus (was their end)! And We made other people inherit (those things)! [44:28] And neither heaven nor earth shed a tear over them: nor were they given a respite (again). [44:29] We did deliver aforetime the Children of Israel from humiliating Punishment, [44:30] Inflicted by Pharaoh, for he was arrogant (even) among inordinate transgressors. [44:31] And We chose them aforetime above the nations, knowingly, [44:32] And granted them Signs in which there was a manifest trial [44:33]

We sent not an apostle except (to teach) in the language of his (own) people, in order to make (things) clear to them. Now God leaves straying those whom He pleases and guides whom He pleases: and He is Exalted in power, full of Wisdom. [14:4] We sent Moses with Our signs (and the command). "Bring out thy people from the depths of darkness into light, and teach them to remember the Days of God." Verily in this there are Signs for such as are firmly patient and constant,- grateful and appreciative. [14:5] Remember! Moses said to his people: "Call to mind the favour of Allah to you when He delivered you from the people of Pharaoh: they set you hard tasks and punishments, slaughtered your sons, and let your women-folk live: therein was a tremendous trial from your Lord." [14:6]

Do ye enjoin right conduct on the people, and forget (To practise it) yourselves, and yet ye study the Scripture? Will ye not understand? [2:44] Nay, seek (God's) help with patient perseverance and prayer: It is ndeed hard, except to those who bring a lowly spirit,- [2:45] Who bear in mind the certainty that they are to meet their Lord, and that they are to return to Him. [2:46] O Children of Israel! call to mind the (special) favour which I bestowed upon you, and that I preferred you to all other (for My Message). [2:47] Then guard yourselves against a day when one soul shall not avail another nor shall intercession be accepted for her, nor shall compensation be taken from her, nor shall anyone be helped (from outside). [2:48] And remember, We delivered you from the people of Pharaoh: They set you hard tasks and punishments, slaughtered your sons and let your women-folk live; therein was a tremendous trial from your Lord. [2:49]

Said Moses to his people: "Pray for help from God, and (wait) in patience and constancy: for the earth is God's, to give as a heritage to such of His servants as He pleaseth; and the end is (best) for the righteous. [7:128] They said: "We have had (nothing but) trouble, both before and after thou camest to us." He said: "It may be that your Lord will destroy your enemy and make you inheritors in the earth; that so He may try you by your deeds." [7:129] We punished the people of Pharaoh with years (of droughts) and shortness of crops; that they might receive admonition. [7:130] But when good (times) came, they said, "This is due to us;" When gripped by calamity, they ascribed it to evil omens connected with Moses and those with him! Behold! in truth the omens of evil are theirs in God's sight, but most of them do not understand! [7:131] They said (to Moses): "Whatever be the Signs thou bringest, to work therewith thy sorcery on us, we shall never believe in thee. [7:132] So We sent (plagues) on them: Wholesale death, Locusts, Lice, Frogs, And Blood: Signs openly self-explained: but they were steeped in arrogance,- a people given to sin. [7:133] Every time the penalty fell on them, they said: "O Moses! on your behalf call on thy Lord in virtue of his promise to thee: If thou wilt remove the penalty from us, we shall truly believe in thee, and we shall send away the Children of Israel with thee." [7:134] But every time We removed the penalty from them according to a fixed term which they had to fulfil,- Behold! they broke their word! [7:135] So We exacted retribution from them: We drowned them in the sea, because they rejected Our Signs and failed to take warning from them. [7:136] And We made a people, considered weak (and of no account), inheritors of lands in both east and west, - lands whereon We sent down Our blessings. The fair promise of thy Lord was fulfilled for the Children of Israel, because they had patience and constancy, and We levelled to the ground the great works and fine buildings which Pharaoh and his people erected (with such pride). [7:137] We took the Children of Israel (with safety) across the sea. They came upon a people devoted entirely to some idols they had. They said: "O Moses! fashion for us a god like unto the gods they have." He said: "Surely ye are a people without knowledge. [7:138] "As to these folk,- the cult they are in is (but) a fragment of a ruin, and vain is the (worship) which they practise." [7:139] He said: "Shall I seek for you a god other than the (true) God, when it is God Who hath endowed you with gifts above the nations?" [7:140] And remember We rescued you from Pharaoh's people, who afflicted you with the worst of penalties, who slew your male children and saved alive your females: in that was a momentous trial from your Lord. [7:141]
