In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
O mankind! do your duty to your Lord, and fear (the coming of) a Day
when no father can avail aught for his son, nor a son avail aught for
his father. Verily, the promise of Allah is true: let not then this
present life deceive you, nor let the chief Deceiver deceive you
about Allah. [31:33]
What is the life of this world but play and amusement? But best is
the home in the hereafter, for those who are righteous. Will ye not
then understand? [6:32]
What is the life of this world but amusement and play? but verily the
Home in the Hereafter,- that is life indeed, if they but knew.
[29:64]
Know ye (all), that the life of this world is but play and amusement,
pomp and mutual boasting and multiplying, (in rivalry) among
yourselves, riches and children. Here is a similitude: How rain and
the growth which it brings forth, delight (the hearts of) the
tillers; soon it withers; thou wilt see it grow yellow; then it
becomes dry and crumbles away. But in the Hereafter is a Penalty
severe (for the devotees of wrong). And Forgiveness from Allah and
(His) Good Pleasure (for the devotees of Allah.. And what is the life
of this world, but goods and chattels of deception? [57:20]
Fair in the eyes of men is the love of things they covet: Women and
sons; Heaped-up hoards of gold and silver; horses branded (for blood
and excellence); and (wealth of) cattle and well-tilled land. Such
are the possessions of this world's life; but in nearness to Allah is
the best of the goals (To return to). [3:14]
Wealth and sons are allurements of the life of this world: But the
things that endure, good deeds, are best in the sight of thy Lord, as
rewards, and best as (the foundation for) hopes. [18:46]
Nor can a soul die except by Allah's leave, the term being fixed as
by writing. If any do desire a reward in this life, We shall give it
to him; and if any do desire a reward in the Hereafter, We shall give
it to him. And swiftly shall We reward those that (serve us with)
gratitude. [3:145]
To any that desires the tilth of the Hereafter, We give increase in
his tilth, and to any that desires the tilth of this world, We grant
somewhat thereof, but he has no share or lot in the Hereafter. [42:20]
Those who desire the life of the present and its glitter,- to them we
shall pay (the price of) their deeds therein,- without diminution.
[11:15]
Those who rest not their hope on their meeting with Us, but are
pleased and satisfied with the life of the present, and those who
heed not Our Signs,- [10:7]
Those who love the life of this world more than the Hereafter, who
hinder (men) from the Path of Allah and seek therein something
crooked: they are astray by a long distance. [14:3]
They know but the outer (things) in the life of this world: but of
the End of things they are heedless. [30:7]
Let not their wealth nor their (following in) sons dazzle thee: in
reality Allah's plan is to punish them with these things in this
life, and that their souls may perish in their (very) denial of
Allah. [9:55]
These are the people who buy the life of this world at the price of
the Hereafter: their penalty shall not be lightened nor shall they be
helped. [2:86]
For them is a penalty in the life of this world, but harder, truly,
is the penalty of the Hereafter: and defender have they none against
Allah. [13:34]
This because they love the life of this world better than the
Hereafter: and Allah will not guide those who reject Faith. [16:107]
Therefore shun those who turn away from Our Message and desire
nothing but the life of this world. [53:29]
"Those whose efforts have been wasted in this life, while they
thought that they were acquiring good by their works?" [18:104]
Nor strain thine eyes in longing for the things We have given for
enjoyment to parties of them, the splendour of the life of this
world, through which We test them: but the provision of thy Lord is
better and more enduring. [20:131]
We will, without doubt, help our apostles and those who believe,
(both) in this world's life and on the Day when the Witnesses will
stand forth,- [40:51]
If any one desires a reward in this life, in Allah's (gift) is the
reward (both) of this life and of the hereafter: for Allah is He that
heareth and seeth (all things). [4:134]
Allah doth enlarge, or grant by (strict) measure, the sustenance
(which He giveth) to whomso He pleaseth. (The wordly) rejoice in the
life of this world: But the life of this world is but little comfort
in the Hereafter. [13:26]
And keep thy soul content with those who call on their Lord morning
and evening, seeking His Face; and let not thine eyes pass beyond
them, seeking the pomp and glitter of this Life; no obey any whose
heart We have permitted to neglect the remembrance of Us, one who
follows his own desires, whose case has gone beyond all bounds.
[18:28]
O ye who believe! what is the matter with you, that, when ye are
asked to go forth in the cause of Allah, ye cling heavily to the
earth? Do ye prefer the life of this world to the Hereafter? But
little is the comfort of this life, as compared with the Hereafter.
[9:38]
Every soul shall have a taste of death: and We test you by evil and
by good by way of trial. to Us must ye return. [21:35]
It is He Who hath made you (His) agents, inheritors of the earth: He
hath raised you in ranks, some above others: that He may try you in
the gifts He hath given you: for thy Lord is quick in punishment: yet
He is indeed Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful. [6:165]
To thee We sent the Scripture in truth, confirming the scripture that
came before it, and guarding it in safety: so judge between them by
what Allah hath revealed, and follow not their vain desires,
diverging from the Truth that hath come to thee. To each among you
have we prescribed a law and an open way. If Allah had so willed, He
would have made you a single people, but (His plan is) to test you in
what He hath given you: so strive as in a race in all virtues. The
goal of you all is to Allah. it is He that will show you the truth of
the matters in which ye dispute; [5:48]
Until, when they come (before the Judgment-seat), ((Allah)) will
say: "Did ye reject My Signs, though ye comprehended them not in
knowledge, or what was it ye did?" [27:84]
